This project aims to collaborate with a local business to provide flexographically printed designs in order to solve a real world problem. The process is documented and presented for the Phoenix Challenge collegiate competition.
The team started out by choosing a client and identifying a problem. We chose a non-profit humane society, since they would benefit greatly from free product packaging design. The main issue that needs solving is the nationwide lack of adoptions in recent years. Our research team looked into what was causing this problem, and how to solve it through design (color, imagery, and principles that would foster adoption). As a part of the concept team, I used the research to sketch logo designs, create color palettes, and come up with taglines for a logo.
We look back on our client meetings through every step of the process, ensuring we are keeping the clients needs in focus. We are creating labels, leash tags, window cling, and a donation box. These products were either directly requested by the client, or addressed their needs best. We also made sure to choose products that would be cheap to reprint, since we are working with a non-profit. We are promoting adoption to an older crowd who is likely to adopt, and donation to businesses. As the project is still in development, we are currently in the execution phase. I am designing labels for stickers, working on a research booklet, and photographing our process.
