The sorority flyers aim to promote events for my sorority to be printed and posted digitally on social media.
When I design any flyer for my sorority I first consider who the promotion is geared towards. I make simpler designs, mainly highlighting content and information for my sorority, and more detailed, trendy designs for the general public. I use pinterest as inspiration, as it contains popular themes and imagery.
For the DPhiL Week poster, I was inspired by The Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle, as the style and imagery have been popular this year among the college student age group. Since the flyer was designed for all students to see, I made it more eye-catching by using a vibrant color palette and outlines of graphics from the book. For the matcha fundraiser flyer, I used a color palette based on strawberry matcha itself to further promote the item. The sisterhood event flyer was designed only for sorority members, so I kept the design simple, in order to feature the necessary information. I’ve learned how much consideration goes into a flyer for an event, so I use Adobe Illustrator so I can make edits easily. Making these flyers allows me to practice design principles from my studies and assist my sorority in visually communicating their messages.
